What about men doing yoga?

Of course you have noticed that 95% of students in a yoga class compose of women and more often that not it’s 100% women. Why do you think is this so?

I heard someone say that a man usually wants to concentrate on building up muscles and to them yoga is too feminine as an activity and they won’t be able to build muscles by practicing yoga. Well, I convinced a male friend to do yoga and he actually developed some muscles on his arms and his upper body had firmed up after practicing yoga for only about two months. Of course each individual has his own body type and so one case may be different from another. Plus there are also other factors like one’s diet, discipline and overall lifestyle.

Have you also noticed that about 50% of yoga teachers are male and most of the masters are male? Hmmmmm…..so the masters are mostly male and the students are mostly female. No conclusion here, just an observation. We just wonder……

We encourage every man to just try doing yoga. Don’t be judgmental about the practice of yoga. Everyone has his own goal in choosing an activity. But before you judge, figure out first the benefits you would get in doing yoga. It doesn’t make you less of a man when you do yoga. Believe us, yoga would do more good for you than harm. Who knows, it could be an answer to your expanding waistline…..your stressful lifestyle…..Perhaps you can have a better life with this discovery.

Namaste!

Benefits of Yoga Asanas

The yoga postures known as asanas, bend the spine in many different ways:

  • forward

  • backward

  • side to side

  • twisiting from one side to the other

Moving the spine in this way keeps the spine supple and healthy and nourishes the entire nervous system. The asanas release tension and blocke energy; lengthen and strengthen the muscles, tone, stimulate, and massage internal organs. Thus, the muscles, and organs are bathed in blood, nutrients, and prana. Every cell is rejuvenated and cleansed. Respiration, cardiac functioning, elimination, and mental clarity improve, fatigue and stress are reduced.

What is PinoYoga?

November 25, 2007 at 10:12 pm | In Yoga | 1 Comment

What is PinoYoga?  What does the name really mean?  In the exhibits and bazaars that we have joined, these questions always pop up!  The two words that you see are PINOY and YOGA.  PinoYoga was established by Filipinos who do yoga, it’s as simple as that!  As yoga practitioners, we found it hard to look for products/accessories that would help us in our regular practice of yoga.  We wanted to carry our yoga mats in style and so we had some yoga mat bags done.  We found the generic yoga mats not enough for us and so we ordered Gaiam and Wai Lana yoga mats for better comfort and less of the rubbery smell and of course they were much cuter with all those nice prints.  The yoga mats were not enough for us, we wanted to have yoga rugs!  A yoga rug would help in absorbing our sweat while we do those not so easy poses.  It helps you not to slip on your mat.  I actually didn’t believe this at first but when I tried using a yoga rug, oh yes, they do help.  And as far as hygiene is concerned, you should wash your yoga rug every time you use it.  This is better than washing your mats more often as it is so hard to dry them, am I right?

We did not want to stop at just yoga products.  We also want to promote Pinoy products as our way of telling everybody how proud we are of Pinoy ingenuity.  Oh yes, those handwoven yoga mat bags and yoga rugs are all Pinoy made!!!

PinoYoga will do its best to help all yoga enthusiasts in whatever needs they have.  We have been receiving inquiries on yoga centers, available teachers, and other things about yoga and we have been trying to address all these.  With everybody’s faith and patience in us, we shall achieve all these.

Dealers, consignors, any inquiry?  Questions about yoga, about other handwoven products (other Pinoy products shall be available as we go along)?  Any requests?  Suggestions? These are all welcome.

Namaste!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!
